Faith that works

Here I am in my office trying to wrap my head around faith and works in my Christ-follower life.  How come it is so hard to see the two of these and come out on the other side with an answer.  Is it because our Christianity is some what of a fairy-tale?  Maybe it is so hard because we as (American Christians) have made it hard through our social injustice and lazy attitude about evangelism.  I am not sure that God is pleased with our busy schedule and our nice homes and great friends and fancy churches as He is with our total submission to Faith and the works that  accompany that faith.  Why can’t we just work our faith out so that everyone can see, taste, and be changed by the Faith our life shows.  The faith that only comes from God.  The faith that causes His righteousness to take hold of us and change us for the better.   His righteousness that is our grace gift from Christ on the cross.  The righteousness that is holy, just and perfect for God.  This all brings me back to faith and works.  How can I live this Christian life without both faith and works.  In James it says that the two have to be together.  Well, I hope you have a great day and God bless.  Remember Midweek Wednesday’s @ 6 PM

What is going on here?

I have had a good week thinking about some very interesting questions>

Why do Christians not witness more?

Why does it usually take someone approaching us about Christ to get our attention?

How can we be more involved in each others lives?

Questions without answers, don’t you just love it.

Social Justice and the Gospel

O.K. so I am here in Albuquerque @ the state Evangelistic Conference and listening to Ed Stetzer.  He runs the research department of Lifeway.  He is talking about missional churches and the health of the church today.  As I listen I struggle with Social Justice and the Gospel.  I really believe that they are to be joined in the Church and on the mission field.  Though it seems that people and churches try to separate these and try to achieve them independent from each other.  I must admit I am slightly confused with this process.  What are your thoughts?

Romans

This week we will be in Romans 1:10-15.  The book of Romans is amazing, we have so much to talk about and it brings up so much other conversation that I walk away blessed every time we meet.  Thank you for your attendance and I look forward every week we meet.  God bless you.  Derek

The Holiday Season

Hello everyone and happy holiday.  I hope your thanksgiving was good with your families and friends.  As we look forward to Christmas I hope and pray we realize the importance.  Jesus came so that His presence would be know, not so that Christmas would be remembered for the presents we received.  Why is it that we always remember what we got or gave and not the lives that where changed by making Christ known during the holidays?  Well, join us this Wednesday night at Midweek and we will continue our discussion in Romans and/or open up a can of worms.  Have a great day,      derek

Today

Hello everyone, I was just thinking today about what the perfect worship service looks like to you?  What is important in a service to you?  What is it that connects you with God the most during worship?  You can write up a response and post it if you want to.

God bless, Derek

This week

For some reason I have been watching sermon after sermon, reading blog after blog and I am juast soaking in all of this stuff.  So here is my outlet.  Why are we stagnate?  Why does God rarely get an opportunity to just use us to our full potential?  Is it because we are afraid?  Is is because others do not agree with the vision we have?  Have we not properly explained the vision God has for us?  I realize these are many questions and I have no answers to them.  I was just wondering how many of you feel the same way sometimes?  This week in midweek we will discuss Philippians chapter 4.  I hope you can make it.

Tonight @ Midweek

Tonight @ Midweek we will be discussing Philippians 3-4.  As I think of Paul writing this letter I can’t help but wonder how it was received by the church.  When you think about the scriptures they where pretty blunt and in our faces about the way we should live.  Here is a question for you>  If the church today was this straight forward, how would we received by our culture?

Have a great day,

Derek
